The Rene wig by Follea is quickly becoming my clients preferred wig because the price point is reasonable compared to the other wigs in the Daniel Alain collection.  The price of the wig matters a lot.  A lot of my clients want & need the best wig but after they have one, I have noticed that they spend a lot of time worrying about how to get the wig to last as long as possible.  It's kind of like the fine China that your mom never used because it was "too special".  I have seen my clients forgo camping trips, baseball games, and never styling the hair the way they want because they want and need the wig to last because it's so expensive. I started recommending the Rene wig because it's available in six different caps sizes so the fit is amazing and it features the same swiss lace front so the hairline is on point!   Below I have put together an in-depth review of this wig to help you decide if it's the right piece for you.

The Details

The Cost

René is the least expensive wig in the Follea collection

The René is the least expensive wig in the Follea collection. It’s affordable, but I find that it does not look or feel cheap. Below, I go into more detail about why it is placed at its price point.

The Hair

René is the only wig that features Premium World Select Hair

This 12-inch 100% human hair wig is composed of World Select hair, meaning a blend of Asian and Indian hair. The hair cuticle is partially intact. There is no indication of how much Asian hair versus Indian hair is used to make the wig - We only know that it is a blend.

These details contribute to the wig’s affordability - Wigs made from european full cuticle and partial cuticle hair are often much more expensive.

As with all wigs by Follea, I find the hair to be very natural looking and beautiful . It is light, smooth, and it moves naturally. The cinnamon color (#15040) that I tested was stunning - a dark brown with a golden red hue.

The hairline of any wig is of huge importance. I believe the way this is sewn largely determines how realistic the wig looks. In my opinion, Follea has one of the best hairlines on the market.

Pro Tip

For a more natural look, pull some baby hairs along the hairline apart from the wig and forward to rest a bit in front of the wig’s hairline. This will hide the perimeter of the wig.

The Top

René features a lace top

The René features a temple to temple monofilament top. This allows you to change the part with ease, but does not provide as realistic of a scalp look as a French drawn top would. This wig utilizes a closed wefted back cap. The wefting material is high quality and does not feel bulky. It Is a lot more comfortable than most other wefteds on the market, bufeels less comfortable than other Folleas I’ve worn.

Personally, I prefer a hand-tied cap. I love to wear my hair in high ponytails and French braids, and if I were to do so in this wig, the wefting would show.

Securing Features

Available in six cap sizes for a secure fit

René is available in six cap sizes - XXS, XS, S, M, L, and XL.

For ease of wear, the René includes a comb and easy-to-adjust bra straps to hold the wig in place. It also includes ear tabs for tape or glue.

Recap

The René is a great economical option for someone seeking a well made, beautiful starter wig. While it lacks some of the qualities of more expensive wigs (i.e. European Hair, full cuticle, hand-tied cap, french or silk top), It’s hard to beat its natural look and comfortable wear for its price point.
